The King Of Country Music, George Strait’s Touching Words At The 2024 CMA Awards Bring His Wife To Tears
The 2024 CMA Awards became an unforgettable night packed with incredible performances. Lainey Wilson, one of the evening’s co-hosts, captivated the audience with a powerful rendition of “Amarillo by Morning.”
Finally, as the curtain lifted, George Strait appeared in his signature all-black outfit and cowboy hat, ready to perform. Beside him was Chris Stapleton, who would join forces for a full-throated duet on “Honky Tonk Hall of Fame.”
The chemistry between the two artists, who have collaborated at select shows in recent years, was electric. Strait’s wife, Norma, was spotted in the crowd, swaying along to the music.
After receiving a standing ovation at the CMA Awards, George Strait humbly expressed his gratitude, saying, “First of all, I want to thank my Lord and savior Jesus Christ.” He continued, “I want to thank the CMAs for adding my name to the incredible artists on this small list of recipients, bearing the name of the icon Willie Nelson.”
The heartfelt words left Norma, who wore a black and white sleeveless dress, visibly emotional, her eyes welling up as her husband spoke.
At this year’s CMA Awards, George Strait was honored with the 2024 Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to country music over the past 40 years.
Strait’s career includes 60 No. 1 singles and 33 platinum-selling albums, making him the only artist in history to have a Top 10 hit every year for over three decades.
He has sold more than 70 million albums and earned over 60 major awards, including 17 CMAs and three Entertainer of the Year wins. Strait holds the record for the most nominations in CMA history with 83.
